The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Berlin gifted two Buddha statues to the Embassy of Cambodia in Berlin, upon a request made by the Cambodian Ambassador. Eng. Karunasena Hettiarachchi, Ambassador, officially handed over the Buddha statues to Ambassador Sopharath Touch, on 7 June 2019 at the Embassy premises. This meritorious act was assisted by Air Chief Marshal Kapila Jayampathy (Rtd).
Emphasizing the importance of promoting inter-faith harmony, with the participation of the Sri Lankan community and representatives from the Sri Lanka Associations in Berlin, the Embassy of Sri Lanka hosted an Iftar for the second consecutive year on Thursday, 30 May 2019 in the Embassy premises. The Ambassadors of Bangladesh, Maldives and Egypt also graced the event.
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Berlin celebrated Vesak on 21 May 2019 at the Embassy premises with the participation of Buddhist monks, the Sri Lankan community and German nationals.

Sri Lankan expatriates in Berlin and German Friends joined the Candle Light Vigil at the premises of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Berlin on 23rd April to pay respect to the victims of the attack on Easter Sunday in Sri Lanka.
On the day of national mourning declared by the Government of Sri Lanka, the staff of the Embassy observed 3 minutes silence as a mark of respect for and remembrance of all victims of the attack on Easter Sunday.
The Government of Sri Lanka has declared Tuesday 23rd April 2019 as the Day of National Mourning as a mark of respect for and remembrance of all the victims of the Easter Sunday attacks resulting in the loss of over 300 civilians whilst leaving over 450 injured.
