Working group of school from Isernhagen supports health care in Sri Lanka
ISERNHAGEN. There is no need for mentioning the fact that Sri Lanka and Isernhagen maintain a special relationship thanks to the immensely dedicated working group at the Gymnasium in Altwarmbüchen. For years there have been regular exchange programmes, fixed fundraising dates, such as the concert of the Capella Conveniensis or the Run for Help.

In their tidy white shirts and trousers, they are posing with their teacher in the far-away Sri Lanka in front of a board with German terms on it. When the five students of the S. Thomas College in Mount Lavinia will be landing on the airport in Frankfurt on Sunday, they will not only be taking warm winter clothes along, but also some knowledge of the language, in order to be able to talk with their exchange partners of the Gymnasium Isernhagen apart from English. This was made possible by Anusha Galage, who is fluent in German and actually working with the German Embassy in Sri Lanka's capital Colombo. She has offered to teach the exchange students some basic terms.
Sri Lanka is so jam-packed with alluring outdoorsy activities that visitors often high-tail it out of the capital a day or two after arriving, choosing instead to spend their vacation days lounging on a southern beach, whale-watching off the coast or leopard-spotting in a national park.
The 6th Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) took place from 16th to 18th January 2014 in Berlin. At the sidelines of the Green Week, the most important consumer trade exhibition for food and agricultural products, the forum brought together policy makers from throughout the world to discuss the subject of "Empowering Agriculture: Fostering Resilience: Securing Food and Nutrition". The GFFA is a unique political conference focussing on key issues regarding the future of the global agricultural and food situation. 72 Ministers from around the world and more than 1500 participants attended the Forum.
