TransportThe Embassy of Sri Lanka in Berlin is hereby calling quotations from the forwarding companies for the heavy baggage of one of the Home Based officers of this Embassy, to be transported from his residence in Berlin-Zehlendorf to the port of Colombo, Sri Lanka. The quotation should include charges in relation to packing, insurance and transportation of the heavy baggage for a 20 feet container.

  • The requirements are as follows:
  • Official packing permit
  • Supply of the same size of container for loading
  • Pre-delivery of packing materials
  • Supply of all First class packing materials including bubble packing for fragile items-
  • The packing should be done in a day and the baggage to be transported immediately thereafter.
  • Establishment of the packing list
  • Disassembly of furniture
  • Export customs clearance and other usual requirements
  • The period of the shipment to Colombo has to be mentioned.
  • No additional charges to be levied on the arrival of the goods in Colombo.

Please note that the suppliers can visit the site for pre inspection from 21.09.2020 to 26.09.2020, and the Embassy may call meeting with the forwarding companies with a view to discuss the packing and transportation. .

Packing should be on second week of October 2020.

The Embassy is having the right to require to postpone the packing and dispatch if the officer's tenure is extended due to the exigency of service. All the quotations should be sent to the following address on or before 01.10.2020 only by Registered Post.

Ambassador Manori Unambuwe presents Credentials

Credentials1Ambassador Manori Unambuwe presented Credentials to Federal President, Frank-Walter Steinmeier as the Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Federal Republic of Germany on 20 August 2020 at the Bellevue Castle in Berlin.

Credentials2During the discussions held following the presentation of credentials, Ambassador Unambuwe conveyed warm greetings from President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the government and the people of Sri Lanka to the Federal President. While appreciating the assistance provided to Sri Lanka by Germany over the years, the Ambassador reiterated the commitment of the government of Sri Lanka to further enhance friendly relations between the
two countries . The Ambassador also thanked the Federal President for his assistance and goodwill towards Sri Lanka during his tenure as the Federal Foreign Minister. During the cordial discussions, Ambassador Unambuwe briefed the Federal President of the recently concluded elections in Sri Lanka which is a testimony to the trust and confidence the people have placed on H.E. the President and the new Government.

The Federal President extended best wishes to the Ambassador on her new assignment and assured continuous support in furthering friendly ties between the two countries. Following the discussions, the Sri Lankan flag was ceremonially hoisted along with the German and European Union flags, despite the stringent restrictions in place due to Covid-19.

Press Release - Ambassador-designate of Sri Lanka to Germany assumes duties

6July2020 1Ambassador-designate to the Federal Republic of Germany, Manori Unambuwe assumed duties at the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Berlin on 6 July 2020.

6July2020 2Upon the arrival at the Embassy, the Ambassador was welcomed and greeted by the staff. Following religious observances, Ms. Unambuwe officially assumed duties.

6July2020 4Addressing the staff, Ambassador-designate Unambuwe highlighted the importance of raising Sri Lanka’s profile in Germany while focusing on promotion of trade, investments and tourism, in post Covid-19 economic revival. She also expressed her optimism that the relations between Sri Lanka and Germany and other accredited countries would be further strengthened and expanded encompassing all areas of interest during her tenure.

6July2020 3Upon the arrival of the Ambassador-designate at the official residence, religious observances were conducted and alms were offered to Most Venerable Maha Sangha.

Prior to her appointment as the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Germany, she served as Country Manager for SAP India Pvt Ltd., and has held senior management positions in global IT companies such as IBM and Oracle Corporation. She was also a Board Director at Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) and Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Response Team (SLCERT).

Ambassador Unambuwe holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the Australian Institute of Business, Australia.

Appointments will be given on a case by case basis and based on prior appointments obtained from the Mission via following email:

Please note that it is not permitted to accompany the family members or friends, when visiting the Mission, unless their presence is compulsorily required in relations to the service concerned, such as birth registration, obtaining a passport for the child, etc. In order to ensure the health and safety of the people, the Embassy will ensure strict compliance of social distancing and hygiene measures. It will be mandatory for people visiting the Consular Section to wear face masks.
