Special Notice - Restrictions in the provision of Consular Services

CrestIn view of the present circumstances of the continuous spread of Coronavirus in the Federal Republic of Germany, the authorities of Germany has recommended additional measures including the reduction of the number of trips, avoidance of public transport and minimizing public gatherings, where possible, to further reduce the risk of an infection.

In order to minimize the exposure to the virus and to limit the spread of virus among Sri Lankans, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Berlin and the Consulate General of Sri Lanka am Main in Frankfurt, after taking into consideration the present situation, and in consultation with the Ministry of Foreign Relations of Sri Lanka, have decided to limit the consular services provided to Sri Lankans, commencing from 16.03.2020 until further notice.

Accordingly, from 16.03.2020 onwards and until further notice, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Berlin and the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Frankfurt am Main, have arranged to restrict services related only to the issuance of temporary/emergency travel documents, issuance and certification of documents relevant to deaths of Sri Lankans and any other emergency consular service, which is deemed necessary on a case by case basis. This will be done on appointment only.
